A Note From the Artist: Growing up, I saw alstroemeria everywhere — in grocery store bouquets and in homes year-round — and I had never felt particularly drawn to them. Years later, I discovered them growing in my mother-in-law’s garden, and it changed the way I thought about the flowers. I noticed how vibrant, cheerful, and hearty they are, and they’ve since become one of my favorite flowers to draw. The alstroemeria in this piece came from her garden, and the drawing always reminds me of her and the happiness of her home.
